PSYC 318W: Research Methods in Psychology

In this course, I...

learned how to properly search for empirical articles within various research databases and scientific journals.

learned how to analyze, interpret, and construct research articles (abstracts, introduction, method, results, discussion).

practiced collecting, analyzing, and cleaning a data pool within SPSS software. The information was used to develop research studies based on particular pieces of data.

Using the class generated data pool, I composed a research article that examined the relationships between self-reported conscientiousness, anxiety, and fatigue levels in women.

As a final project, I developed and constructed a research proposal, which required me to conduct extensive literature reviews, formulate hypotheses, operationally define variables, design an experiment for testing, and describe how to analyze the data. My research proposal suggested an investigation into the benefits of art therapy on the academic performance of students with ADHD.

For my third assignment, I created a presentation on how to properly construct and refine survey instruments for collecting various types of data.
