Teaching Philosophy

Learning is an endless process, done both willfully and unintentionally. Students can better implement new knowledge when they are provided the opportunity to engage in an experiential learning process. Through critical thinking and reflection, students can foster, develop, and practice delivered content inside and outside the classroom. Furthermore, the relationship between the teacher and student should include encouragement, frequent feedback, and support. Learning is a personal process that is different for every student. It's essential to nurture the process with open communication that invites curiosity and interpretation.

As an undergraduate teaching assistant (UTA), I made sure that I was available to students through email and weekly private virtual office hours. To support experiential learning, I helped develop engaging and personalized assignments that incorporated elements of reflection. To promote communication, I created discussion forums that addressed questions and concerns regarding projects. To encourage the learning process, I frequently reached out to students about deadline reminders and planning for upcoming coursework. The student body is a diverse group of individuals with unique lives and circumstances. As a UTA, I wanted to acknowledge the challenges posed by the pandemic by mindfully promoting the course schedule and offering flexibility with deadlines. Lastly, I made sure to recognize the progress and effort of each student with consistent feedback.
